Description

We are Chimera, an early stage start-up on a mission to simplify zoning and building code compliance using AI and structured data. We are turning messy zoning, building, fire, and planning regulations into clear, instant answers for architects, contractors, and developers.

We are looking for a mid-level data engineer who is excited to help bring our MVP to life.

This is a remote position, so where you're based is not essential.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and build data pipelines for regulatory sources (e.g., zoning maps, building/fire codes)
  • Structure, clean, and integrate data from public datasets (USGS, FEMA, LAMC, CBC, NFPA, etc.)
  • Collaborate on our matching logic to connect addresses with applicable regulations
  • Own the data infrastructure needed to support our early product and API
  • Collaborate with the CTO on building the product based on the requirements
  • Help shape product direction with a small, committed team

 About You

  • Experience working with data pipelines or back-end infrastructure
  • Comfortable with APIs, data scraping, geospatial data (QGIS/PostGIS a plus)
  • Start-up mindset: you are resourceful, curious, and enjoy wearing multiple hats
  • You care about real-world impact, and like turning chaos into clarity
  • The position is for remote work i.e. where you are based is not essential.
